Economic association agreement between Ukraine and EU is political, experts say

Today in Moscow a closed-door meeting was held between the prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine, Dmitry Medvedev and Nikolai Azarov. The meeting was organized to discuss the most painful subject of bilateral relationships, the upcoming signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU at the Vilnius summit, which, in fact, will close ways to Eurasian integration to Ukraine and will nullify the efforts of the Russian Federation to bring Ukraine into the Customs Union.

Armenia to decide whether to join Eurasian Union

Vyacheslav Kovalenko, Russian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Georgia (2006-2008) and Armenia (2009-2013), has commented on Armenia’s choice of the EU or the Eurasian Union as the course of its further development. The ex-ambassador said that the association agreement of Armenia and the EU was a large document for trade-economic relations and excluded points on visa-free regime.

Armenia has to choose between the European Union and the Eurasian Union

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Georgia (2006-2008) and Armenia (2009-2013), director of regional programs of the Institute of Caspian Cooperation Vyacheslav Kovalenko commented on the situation regarding the choice of Armenia between the European and Eurasian Union. Armenia and the European Union have successfully concluded negotiations on an agreement on a deep and comprehensive free trade area, which is part of the Association Agreement with the EU. But it could affect relations between Armenia and the Eurasian community.
